    Problems logging on?

    Computer or Browser Problems

    Keep in mind that...

    Set Your Cache Options:

The instructions may vary slightly depending on browser versions you use, but the following should get you to the right area. - see http://etudesproject.org/gateway/Info_PCSettings.html

Check Your Browser's Cache Settings! 99% of technical problems are due to incorrect browser "cache" settings.

The browser cache stores pages downloaded to your computer from the Internet. As you work, ETUDES-NG is continually updating and storing pages in a database that is on a remote server, not locally on your computer. The browser must be set to always go out to the server and get new pages from the server and to not use old pages stored on your computer or errors will occur.

Changing Internet Explorer Cache Settings (PC)

    1) Click on the Tools Menu > Select Internet Options

    2) Click on the General tab > Under "Temporary Internet Files", click on the "Delete files" button to clear the cache.

    3) Next, click on the Settings button and check, "Every visit to the page."

    4) Click on the OK Button.

Changing Mozilla Firefox Cache Settings (PC) - download Firefox - click here - (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/)

    1) Click on the Tools Menu and select Options

    2) Click on the Privacy icon then click the tiny plus sign next to Cache to view the settings.

    3) Click on the Clear Button and enter 0 (zero) KB of disc space for the cache.

    4) Click on the OK Button

    5) Open a browser window, delete the address in the URL bar and type about:config

    6) Click Enter to see Firefox settings.

    7) Scroll down to browser.cache.check_doc_frequency

    8) Make sure the setting is 3 in the dialogue box. Click OK.

    9) Close window, exit and restart Firefox to enact the change.

Set browser cache frequency to 3 -

    Set Firefox to NOT Auto-Update!

    1. Click on Tools.

    2. Click on Options.

    3. Click on Advanced.

    4. Click on Update.

    5. Check "Ask me what I want to do" and click on OK.

What the above settings do is call the most accurate/recent web pages from the ETUDES server and do NOT use cached (temporary file) stored on your local hard drive. This way, you will always be sure to access the most recent server files.
