The Paralegal Path to Law School

A Dream Deferred

Many Paralegal students aspire to become lawyers but dismiss the dream because of the educational preparation and the financial resources necessary to achieve such the goal. Like most people, they mistakenly believe that all Law Schools require a Bachelor of Arts Degree and many years of expensive preparation.

 

• The truth is there is a large group of Law Schools in California that do not require a B.A. degree but admit students with either an Associate in Arts Degree or 60 units of General Education courses.

A Direct and Inexpensive Path to Law School

Our Law Department is offering a direct and inexpensive path to law school as an option within our Legal Assisting/Paralegal program.

Here are the unique features of this "fast track" to Law School option:

• Two Course of Study Options:
  
  • Complete the Associate in Arts Degree in Legal Assisting/Paralegal
  • Complete the Legal Assisting/Paralegal Certificate (36 units) with an additional 24 units of General Education courses.
  • Completing either course of study qualifies students to be Paralegals as well as having the option of applying to Law School.
    
    
• Personal Academic Advisement.
  
  The Chair, Professor David Jordan, will assist each student in selecting the General Education courses which best prepare her for Law School.
  
  
• Special LSAT preparation workshops.
  
  
• Transition to Law School programs.
  
  Cooperative programs of advisement and preparation with several of the local Law Schools such as Glendale University College of Law.
  
  
• Low Cost.

  One of the unique features of our Legal Assisting/Paralegal program is that the entire instructional program can be taken through the Internet, or in the traditional classroom program on the Mission College campus, or in some combination of the two modes of instruction.
